Abstract
With the increased use of synthetic detergent preparations for body care, the question of the way in which these substances affect the environment (especially water) is becoming more and more important. Although the amounts of synthetic detergents contributed to the effluent and, hence, to the environmental burden, by body care products are small compared with the quantities produced by other detergent uses, they must not be overlooked.
