Zusammenfassung

Die ältere Morphologie und Physiologie betrachtete die Nervenzelle hauptsächlich als starres, statisches Bauelement des Nervensystems, an dem sich das Phänomen der Leitung und Übertragung von Erregungen und damit von Informationen von Zelle zu Zelle abspielt. Die Untersuchung der Membraneigenschaften, deren De- und Repolarisierung sowie andere elektrische Phänomene standen lange Zeit fast ausschließlich im Vordergrund der neurophysiologischen, d.h. elektrophysiologischen Forschung.
