Prostate Cancer

Abstract

The detection of prostate carcinoma is currently based on three parameters: digital rectal examination (DRE), serum prostate-specific antigen (PSA), and transrectal ultrasound of the prostate (TRUS) (although TRUS is mainly used as a guide for biopsies) [26,46]. Definitive treatment for localized prostate cancer is most effective when the cancer is organ-confined or specimen-confined at the time of treatment [57].
