Zusammenfassung

Vitamine sind lebensnotwendige organische Verbindungen, die in Zentraleuropa unter normalen Bedingungen in ausreichenden Mengen in der Nahrung für Erwachsene enthalten sind. Eine zusätzliche Gabe von Vitaminpräparaten ist nur bei ungenügender Zufuhr (z. B. Reduktionskost, Vegetarier), erhöhtem Bedarf (z. B. Säuglinge, Schwangere, Dialysepatienten) oder bei Resorptionsstörungen (z.B. perniziöse Anämie) indiziert. Nach den Arzneimittelrichtlinien dürfen Vitamine generell nicht zu Lasten der gesetzlichen Krankenkassen verordnet werden, ausgenommen bei nachgewiesenen Vitaminmangelzuständen, die durch entsprechende Ernährung nicht behoben werden können, und als Antidot.
