Abstract

The correlated data obtained from multicolour, multiparameter flow cytometric analysis provides an accurate method to characterize sub populations of cells. Multicolour immuno fluorescence is also applicable where cell numbers are very low but there is a requirement for the determination of many specific cell surface markers, such as fine needle aspirates or bone marrow specimens. Commercial flow cytometers (both the sorters and the benchtop analysers) are available with two or more lasers which permits the use of multiple excitation wavelengths and a wider range of fluorochromes.
