Die rheumatoide Arthritis beginnt typischerweise akut mit einer schmerzhaften Schwellung in einem oder mehreren Gelenken, insbesondere den Fingergelenken. Zu den Frühsymptomen der chronischen Polyarthritis zählen die Morgensteifigkeit, der Gelenkschmerz, verbunden mit einer Abnahme der Muskelkraft, und unspezifische Allgemeinsymptome.
