Zusammenfassung
Wenn man sich erste Ergebnisse zur Lebenssituation der „ältesten Alten“ (d.h. derjenigen Personen, die das 85. Lebensjahr vollendet haben) anschaut, dann könnte man zu dem Schluß gelangen, daß unsere gerontologischen und geriatrischen Lehrbücher bald umgeschrieben werden müssen. Nicht alle Forschungserkenntnisse, die man über 60- und 70-jährige Menschen gewonnen hat, lassen sich ohne weiteres auf sehr alte Menschen übertragen.
