Experience Factors When Testing for Efficiency and Correlating Results with Design

Abstract

Since the enactment of federal regulations in 1992, the U.S. and other North American countries have required that motors meet minimum efficiency standards. During this transition to date, test verifications have evolved to provide methodology and procedures to assure efficiency requirements. Experience in testing during this period have given insight into factors which have been shown to provide consistent test results. Correlation of results with designed prediction have enabled adjustment of parameters to reflect actual product performance values.
