Zusammenfassung

Die katalytisch aktiven Zentren liegen meist in Gestalt von Metallkristalliten in porösen Katalysatorträgem vor. Das Ziel ist, hierbei pro Volumeneinheit eine möglichst große Zahl an aktiven Zentren im inneren Porenvolumen unterzubringen, damit ein möglichst hoher Umsatz pro Zeit- und Volumeneinheit erreicht wird. Die geometrische Struktur bestimmt entscheidend die Transportprozesse in die und aus den Poren. Sie nimmt Einfluß auf Umsatz und Selektivität. Um eine hinreichend genaue Modellierung der Gas/Feststoff-Katalyse zu erreichen, ist daher eine möglichst realistische Beschreibung der Hohlraumstruktur der Katalysatorträger erforderlich. In Abb. 3.1 ist eine elektronenmikroskopische Aufnahme eines Al2O3-Trägers dargestellt. Man erkennt eine äußerst kompliziert strukturierte „Kraterlandschaft“.
