Zusammenfassung

Die ersten Laser wurden 1960 konstruiert, 4 Jahre später fanden sie erstmals in der Medizin Anwendung. In den folgenden 2 Jahrzehnten wurden in der Dermatologie vor allem der Argonionenlaser, der Kohlendioxidlaser und der Neodym: YAG-Laser eingesetzt. Durch die Einführung der gepulsten Lasersysteme wurde das Spektrum der dermatologischen Lasertherapie sowohl quantitativ als auch qualitativ erweitert. Die Indikationsstellung zur Lasertherapie ist jedoch nach wie vor gegen andere mögliche konservative Verfahren genau abzuwägen und das zur Therapie der jeweiligen Hautveränderung geeignete Lasersystem sorgfältig auszuwählen. Hierzu ist nicht nur klinische Erfahrung notwendig, sondern auch die Kenntnis der theoretischen Grundlagen, um die Möglichkeiten und Grenzen der Lasertherapie verstehen und ausschöpfen zu können.
