Abstract

Hepatic drug reactions occur in a variety of clinical settings. In many cases the association of liver disease with the use of a particular drug is obvious because of a temporal association of developing liver function abnormalities to beginning use of the drug. This scenario generally leads to discontinuation of the drug and resolution of the dysfunction. In this setting biopsy is rarely indicated. With many drugs there is no long-term consequence as long as the drug is not reintroduced.
