Abstract

As our knowledge of structure and reproduction of numerous groups is still fragmentary and their taxonomic relationships are unknown, it is difficult to draw up a satisfactory system of the Protozoa. In addition, it is left to a certain degree to the taxonomist’s individual judgment which criteria he uses in his classification. Reform proposals published in recent times [241,810, 1376] agree only in restricting the term Sporozoa to the “Telosporidia” (Gregarinida, Coccidia) and in classifying the Opalinina among the flagellates.
