Part of the book series: Chemie der Pflanzenschutz- und Schädlingsbekämpfungsmittel ((PFLANZENSCHUTZ,volume 3))

Abstract

In reviewing the use of chemicals for the control of tropical diseases, it is necessary to delimit at the very onset, what classes of compounds are to be considered, for “chemicals” could otherwise include drugs and disinfectants, as well as insecticides, rodenticides, molluscicides, etc. Thus the following chapter will deal only with the use of insecticides, molluscicides and rodenticides against the vectors, intermediate hosts and reservoirs of diseases of public health importance. Nor will pesticides in use against the vectors and reservoirs of animal diseases be included since these are primarily of veterinary interest.
