Abstract
Picosecond pulse technique is well adapted to the study of nonlinear electro-optical effects [1,2]. When measuring the nonlinear electric polarizabilities of molecules it can occur that measurements, made at different moments of time can yield strongly differing results owing to the competitive nature of the various molecular contributions to electric third-order susceptibility.
