Enzymology of Glandular Kallikreins

  • Chapter
Bradykinin, Kallidin and Kallikrein

Part of the book series: Handbook of Experimental Pharmacology ((HEP,volume 25 / 1))

Abstract

Even today we call two totally different groups of enzymes kallikrein (EC 3.4.21.8): the glandular, tissue, or organ kallikreins on one hand and the plasma or serum kallikreins on the other. The relationships between these two groups of kallikreins appear to be not closer than, e.g., those between trypsin and thrombin.
