Zusammenfassung
Insertionen, Deletionen, Duplikationen und Translokationen beruhen auf Austausch nicht-homologer DNS-Abschnitte, denen, wie schon angedeutet, eine „illegitime Rekombination“ zugrunde liegt. Solche Ereignisse sind viel zu häufig, als daß man sie als Unglücksfälle der „legalen“ Rekombination werten könnte. Bereits an anderer Stelle (s. Kap. 6) haben wir gesehen, daß das Umarrangieren genetischer Information einen entscheidenden Einfluß auf die Evolution der Organismen ausübt. Wir haben bereits kurz über den Phagen λ und Tumorviren gesprochen und gesehen, daß sie ihr Genom in das ihrer Wirtszellen inkorporieren. Mehr darüber im letzten Abschnitt dieses Kapitels. Schließlich wäre der Wirkungsmechanismus der Restriktionsendonukleasen zu nennen (s. Kap. 20) sowie das Faktum, daß diese Enzyme zur Konstruktion kombinierter DNS-Moleküle (s. Kap. 11) herangezogen werden.
