Zusammenfassung
Die Langzeitbeatmung ist eine der aufwendigsten Therapieformen der modernen Medizin, sie hat wesentlich zur explosiven Entwicklung von Intensivtherapiestationen in den letzten Jahren beigetragen. Der Gesamtaufwand ist nicht so sehr durch die Anschaffung und Instandhaltung des Respirators selbst (Anschaffungskosten, Reparaturen, Reinigung, Sterilisation) als vielmehr durch die notwendige Intensität der mit einer Langzeitbeatmung verbundenen pflegerischen Maßnahmen bedingt. Ausreichendes geschultes Schwesternpersonal (1 Intensivschwester für maximal 2 Beatmungspatienten), ein ärztlich anwesender Dauerdienst und ein um die Uhr arbeitendes Notfallabor (mindestens Blutgase, Elektrolyte, Osmolarität, Gerinnung) sind selbstverständliche Erfordernisse.
