Zusammenfassung
Das Klima einer gewissen Epoche, beispielsweise eines Jahrzehnts oder eines Jahrhunderts, ist charakterisiert durch statistische Mittelwerte üblicher meteorologischer Elemente über den entsprechenden Zeitabschnitt. Das Klima ist natürlichen Schwankungen unterworfen. Schon Zange hat aber auch der Mensch, besonders durch Waldrodungen und intensive landwirtschaftliche Nutzung, klimatische Änderungen in regionalem Rahmen verursacht. Erst in jüngster Zeit besteht die Gefahr, daß eine irreversible globale Änderung verursacht wird durch die Veränderung weiter Teile der Erdoberfläche, zusätzliche Staubbelastung der Atmosphäre, Erhöhung des CO2-Gehalts der Atmosphäre durch Verbrennung fossiler Brennstoffe, Belastung der Atmosphäre mit langlebigen Gasen wie Fluormethan (Freon) und Stickoxyd und die direkte Wärmeabgabe an die Atmosphäre. Aufgrund heutiger Entwicklungstendenzen erwartet man den stärksten Einfluß von der Erhöhung des CO2-Gehaltes der Atmosphäre. Es wird abgeschätzt, daß bei Berücksichtigung aller Effekte die anthropogenen Einflüsse zu einer Erwärmung führen, und der so verursachte Temperaturan-stieg bei zunehmender Fossilenergienutzung in den nächsten 50 Jahren die Schwankungsbreite natürlicher Klimaschwankungen, wie sie in den letzten Jahrhunderten aufgetreten sind, übersteigt.
