Abstract

The papers submitted by Lichtlen [6], Mathes [8], and Strauer [11] stimulated us to examine the effects of intracoronary nitroglycerin administration on left ventricular function in patients with coronary heart disease. We were interested in determining whether there is a change in inotropism subsequent to intracoronary nitroglycerin administration and whether a connection exists with changes in myocardial Ca2+ and catecholamine conversion.
