Optoelectronics in Medicine

Abstract

Report of our earlier experiences gained in clinical and experimental results on wound healing. We could prove the stimulating effect of low power Ruby, He-Ne and Argon laser-beams on different biological systems as follows:

  1. 1/

    serial light and electronmicroscopical studies,

  2. 2/

examinations on the radioactivity of the collagen precursors,

  3. 3/

chemical transfer of stimulating substrate on human leucocyte population,

  4. 4/

    enzymhistochemical studies,

  5. 5/

on the tensile strength of sutured wounds,

  6. 6/

neovascularization with the “ear chamber” technique,

  7. 7/

    prostaglandin E2 and F2 α-production,

  8. 8/

biochemical demonstration of the RNA, DNA, protein synthesis on fibrocyte cultures,

  9. 9/

    skin homotransplantation of mice and

  10. 10/

acetylcholine releasing effect on Auerbach’s plexus.
