Nicotinic Acetylcholine Receptor

Part of the book series: NATO ASI Series ((ASIH,volume 3))

Abstract

It has been recently found that the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (AcChR) exhibits unusual properties in the binding of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine (AcCh; A). The experimental observations suggest an extension and re-interpretation of previous data on AcCh-binding and on channel gating (1–4).
