Zusammenfassung

Störungen im Bereich der Halswirbelsäule (HWS) werden häufig als Ursache von Kopf- und Nackenschmerzen vermutet. Trotz zahlreicher Untersuchungen existiert allerdings bis heute kein eindeutig definiertes HWS-bedingtes Kopfschmerz-Syndrom, das eine verläßliche Differentialdiagnose gegenüber anderen primären Kopfschmerzen (KS)-Formen ermöglicht (s. Pfaffenrath et al.: Die Differentialdiagnose des zervikogenen Kopfschmerzes). Dementsprechend uneinheitlich sind Hypothesen zur Ätiologie und Pathogenese dieser Kopfschmerzen. Diskutiert werden vaskuläre, myogene, ligamentäre, neurogene und ossäre Ursachen (Sjaastad et al. 1983).
