Abstract

Since the first description of microvascular suturing techniques by Lee and Fisher in 1961 these techniques have undergone various improvements and alterations. This chapter describes the techniques of arterial and venous anastomoses which most laboratories presently use for rat organ transplantation. In addition, an alternative technique for vascular anastomosis is described which is especially useful whenever two vessels with different diameters are to be connected, the cuff-technique.
