The Application of Thermodynamics to the Development of Processes and Materials

Part of the book series: Data and Knowledge in a Changing World ((DATAKNOWL))

Abstract

Some excellent thermodynamic calculation “packages” are now available. They account for theoretical studies that reduce the experimental and development phases. The Scientific Group Thermodata Europe (SGTE) presents here some applications of thermodynamic data from their databases. Examples deal with the use of the thermodynamic database COST 507 for developing new light alloys as well as complex metastable, refractory coatings obtained by physical vapor deposit.
