Zusammenfassung

Die medizinische Ethik ist eines der ältesten, stabilsten und weltweit am meisten akzeptierten moralischen Systeme. Sie übergreift kulturelle und nationale Grenzen und eint die Ärzte in einer dem Wohl der Kranken verpflichtenden Gemeinde. Allen Kriegen, politischen Umwälzungen, sozialen Konflikten und Zeiten kulturellen Verfalls zum Trotz blieb sie mehr als 2500 Jahre unangefochten bestehen (CIOMS 1985).
