Intratumoral Treatment of Incurable Head and Neck Cancer with Recombinant Human Tumor Necrosis Factor-α

Abstract

As early as 1893 Coley [5] observed a patient whose sarcoma showed hemorrhagic necrotization in the course of an infection with erysipelas. Subsequent experiments revealed that bacterial polysaccharides might be the cause of this hemorrhagic tumor necrosis.
