Abstract

Fibroma is a firm, subcutaneous nodule composed of fibrous tissue (Lovelady et al. 1942). The size varies from a few millimetres to several centimetres. When it is large, it becomes pedunculated. It has a smooth surface which may be ulcerated. Cochrane (1954) reported a fibroma 20 cm in diameter arising in the right labium majus of a 36-year-old woman. These large tumours can cause discomfort, pain and a dragging sensation. Smaller lesions are asymptomatic.
