Grundlegende Aspekte zum Konzept der Lebensqualität

  • Chapter
Psychosoziale Onkologie

Part of the book series: Jahrbuch der medizinischen Psychologie ((MEDPSYCHOL,volume 3))

Summary

An attempt is made to define the term „quality of life“. The conditions necessary to produce a good quality of life for each human being are discussed and the subjective importance of this is described.

Quality of life is not a static but a dynamic concept, i.e., it changes during the course of life in one and the same person as an adaptational process interacting with life circumstances. There are specific differences between chronically and acutely ill patients.

Examples of approaches to measuring quality of life are given and minimal requirements for assessing this concept are proposed.
