Abstract
In the last 1 1/2 years, 242 measurements of extravascular lung water (EVLW) were performed in 15 artificially ventilated patients using the thermal-dye double-indicator method and the Edwards 9310 lung water computer, the Waters D-402-A Densitometer, the Waters DC 410 cuvette, and the Waters SW 367 dye-dilution pump. Dye and thermal-dilution curves were registered, as well, with a 2-channel strip chart recorder. Iced green dye solution was injected via a Swan-Ganz catheter at the beginning of expiration. Consecutive measurements were carried out not earlier than 20 minutes after the previous ones.
