Follow-up Studies of Cerebrovascular Reserve Capacity in Patients with Cerebrovascular Disease

Abstract

There has been an increasing number of reports of the assessment of cerebrovascular reserve capacity (CVRC) in patients with cerebrovascular disease since it was first described by Vorstrup et al. in 1984. These reports almost exclusively deal with changes in CVRC after any kind of treatment, mostly revascularizing or recanalizing procedures. However, little is known on the natural history of the CVRC in patients with obstructive cerebrovascular disease, so far. In this series, therefore we studied the spontaneous course of the CVRC in those patients.
