Zusammenfassung
Die moderne Behandlung von Kindern und Jugendlichen mit Weichteilsarkomen ist multidisziplinär, multimodal. Sicher trägt eine effektive Chemotherapie ganz wesentlich zu den heute erreichten Überlebensraten bei — und das bei erheblich verbesserter Lebensqualität der Patienten, die ihre Erkrankung überstanden haben. Dennoch spielen neben der Chemotherapie die beiden anderen Säulen der Behandlung, die Chirurgie und die Strahlentherapie, nach wie vor eine wesentliche Rolle im Therapiekonzept bei Weichteilsarkomen. Deren Bedeutung soll an ausgewählten Ergebnissen der Cooperativen Weichteilsarkom-Studien CWS-81 und CWS-86 erläutert werden.
