Zusammenfassung
Die Chemotherapie ist in der Behandlung von Kindern und Jugendlichen mit Weiehteilsarkomen ein essentieller Bestandteil. Sie hat wesentlich zur Verbesserung der Heilungschancen dieser Erkrankung in den letzten 10–20 Jahren beigetragen [1, 2]. Die Chemotherapie ist aber nur ein Teil des Behandlungskonzeptes. Die Quote der Patienten, die mit einer alleinigen Chemotherapie (abgesehen von einer diagnostischen Biopsie), geheilt werden können, ist gering, sie dürfte bei max. 20–30% für die chemotherapiesensiblen Sarkome liegen. Andererseits ist die Chance mittels alleiniger chirurgischer Maßnahmen oder mittels einer Strahlentherapie langfristig tumorfrei zu bleiben, ebenfalls nur sehr beschränkt und liegt zwischen 20–30%.
