Abstract
The primary means of studying bounded turbulent shear flows is either to involve the computer in numerical simulations, use model equations or to perform experiments. The following set of papers provides excellent examples of all of these methods and includes studies ranging from the near wall region in a canonical flow to the augmentation of heat transfer in a boundary layer. In the process, the experimental and direct numerical simulation papers provide some good data that will be a challenge to many of the modelers as well as help to understand some of the fundamental problems involved.
