Abstract

Dextrocardia is characterized by malposition of the heart and cardiac apex. The cardiac apex is located in the right side of thorax. Two types of dextrocardia can be distinguished: that with situs solitus and that with situs inversus. In dextrocardia with situs solitus the morphological left atrium is to the patient’s left; in situs inversus it is to the right.
