Zusammenfassung

Vulvakarzinome gehören zu den seltenen Tumoren. Sie machen weniger als 1% aller Karzinome der Frau und 3–5% aller weiblichen Genitaltumoren aus. Das Vulvakarzinom ist, ebenso wie das Vaginalkarzinom, ein Tumor des fortgeschrittenen Lebensalters mit einem Häufigkeitsgipfel im 7. Jahrzehnt. Präkanzerosen nehmen jedoch vom 25. bis zum 80. Lebensjahr stetig zu. Das Durchschnittsalter liegt zwar bei 65 Jahren, 4% der Patientinnen sind jedoch 40 Jahre und jünger (Schmidt-Matthiesen u. Bastert 1994). Die Krankheit ist häufig korreliert mit Hypertonie, Herzkrankheiten, Fettleibigkeit und Geschlechtskrankheiten sowie Diabetes mellitus (Perez et al. 1989). Im Rahmen einer Fallkontrollstudie mit 149 „matched pairs“ fanden Mabuchi et al. (1985) eine vermehrte Häufigkeit von Leukoplakien, Entzündungen der Vulva und der Vagina sowie Urogenitalkarzinomen bei den Patientinnen mit Vulvakarzinom.
