Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) in Lymphoid Cells from Patients with Hodgkin’s Disease

Summary

Long-term growth of peripheral lymphocytes from patients with Hodgkin’s disease was related to clinical, immunological and pathological parameters of the tumor patients. Establishment of continuously growing lymphoblastoid cultures depended on a positive serological EBV reactivity of the cell donor and an intact cellular immune reaction. It is suggested that the established lymphoblastoid cells resemble immunologically reactive cells and not Hodgkin-specific tumor cells.
