Non-Simultaneously Diagnosed Multiple Primary Malignant Neoplasms: The Connecticut Results and an Explanation of the Tabulations

Abstract

The remainder of the monograph will be devoted to the experience of the Connecticut Tumor Registry with regard to multiple primary malignancies not diagnosed at the same time. Throughout this volume, the word “cancer” is used in a broad sense to denote malignant neoplasms and includes both carcinomas and sarcomas. The word “tumor” is used to denote a neoplasm, and not, simply a “swelling.” Anatomic sites containing more than one organ or tissue are often designated by a virgule between the organs or tissues involved; e.g., kidney and ureter would be designated as kidney/ureter.
