Abstract

CaF2 and its structural homologues are, on the one side, normal ionic crystals, but on the other side have several members which show fast ionic conduction and, related to that, unusual anharmonic properties. The shell models used so far do not exhibit a clear relation to this latter feature in fluorite structured crystals.
