Seit langem hat man versucht einerseits die einzelnen epileptischen Anfälle je nach ihrer Symptomatologie und andererseits die epileptischen Anfallskrankheiten (Epilepsien) je nach ihrer Ätiologie und anatomischem Substrat zu klassifizieren.
