Zusammenfassung
Die Parkinson-Erkrankung geht mit einer Degeneration von dopaminergen mesenzephalostriatalen Neuronen einher. Amantadine, Anticholinergika, der Dopaminvorläufer L-DOPA, Dopaminagonisten und Monoamino-Oxidase-B-Hemmer werden in der medikamentösen Behandlung der Parkinson-Erkrankung eingesetzt. Nach etwa 3–7 Jahren zeigen sich jedoch in der Regel Schwierigkeiten im Rahmen der medikamentösen Langzeittherapie, wie Wirkungsfluktuationen von L-DOPA, Dyskinesien und, wenn auch seltener, psychotische Phänomene [32]. Auf Grund dieser Probleme werden andere Therapieformen für die Parkinson-Krankheit gesucht.
