Abstract
Methods and extent of investigations in river morphology and the measures thus derived for the stabilization of degraded river stretches require a basic understanding of the processes of bed formation, from both a geological as well as a river morphological and engineering point of view (Lane 1955). Increased cooperation between the geologist and engineer has proved to be beneficial, even mandatory in this context.
