Abstract
Ultrashort optical pulses of 0.56 picoseconds in duration with over 38 watts of peak power have been generated from an all semiconductor laser diode system. These optical pulses are the shortest to date and also represent the highest peak power produced from a mode locked semiconductor laser system.
