Abstract
In Chapter 5 we argued that a general software development environment suited for prototyping-oriented software development has to be an open system because the set of suitable prototyping tools depends on the kind of application to be developed. In the ideal case it would be possible to select the best prototyping tools for every project and to integrate them into the kernel environment.
