Nonlinear Instability of Nonparallel Flows

Abstract

The present paper reports an experimental study of the nonlinear development of spatial wave packets in the boundary layer on a flat plate at Mach 2. It is shown that subharmonic resonance phenomena may take place in the supersonic boundary layer. The resonance occurs for nonsymmetrical wave triplets.
