Zusammenfassung

Aus der Sicht der rheumatologischen Praxis verlangt die Beteiligung der Muskulatur im Ablauf der rheumatoiden Arthritis sorgfältige Beachtung: Muskelschmerzen und -schwäche — paraartikulär sowie im Sinne des myalgisch-asthenischen Syndroms — stehen im Frühstadium der Erkrankung mit im Vordergrund des Beschwerdebildes. Muskelatrophie und -kontraktur sind für die schweren Funktionseinbußen des Spätstadiums wesentlich mitverantwortlich.
