Zusammenfassung
Das Problem der hypothalamischen Regulation der ACTH-Sekretion umfaßt eine Reihe von Teilfragen, deren wichtigste folgende sind:

Neurale oder humorale Impulse ? Die neueren Untersuchungen von Guillemin (3, 4, 5), Saffran U. Mitarb. (8, 9), Porter u. Jones (7) weisen eindringlich auf das Bestehen einer humoralen Regulation hin.

2.
Weg der Impulsübertragung vom Hypothalamus zur Adenohypophyse ? Hier brachten die Untersuchungen von Harris (6) im wesentlichen Klarheit, die die bedeutsame Rolle des sog. Portalgefäßsystems erwiesen. Nachdem es Porter u. Jones (7) gelang, im Portalvenenblut Stoffe nachzuweisen, die die ACTH-Abgabe zu stimulieren vermögen, kann an der Bedeutung des Portalgefäßsystems als einem Weg der Impulsübertragung nicht gezweifelt wrerden.
