Abstract

Many industrial products in common medicinal and cosmetic use vary widely in chemical composition. While some samples are highly refined, others might be much less so. This is certainly true of a residual material from petroleum fractionation such as petrolatum, for which there are no criteria other than color, oil content and similar physical characteristics.
