Zusammenfassung
Die ursprüngliche Definition der Pinocytose als das „Trinken“ der Zellen, also die tropfenweise Aufnahme von Flüssigkeit in diskreten, vakuolisierten Quanten oder Schlucken, hat durch die Arbeiten der letzten Jahre einen gewissen Bedeutungswandel erfahren. Es soll daher schon einleitungsweise hervorgehoben werden, daß nach dem gegenwärtigen Stand unseres Wissens das Wesentliche der Pinocytose nicht die Aufnahme von Flüssigkeit ist, sondern die Aufnahme der in der Flüssigkeit enthaltenen, gelösten oder suspendierten Substanzen, deren Anreicherung durch Adsorption eine wichtige Komponente im Pinocytose-mechanismus darstellt.
