Zusammenfassung
Die Eingriffe am Aortenbogen stellen wegen der supraaortischen Äste mit allen hirnversorgenden Arterien besondere Anforderungen an chirurgische Technik und Management mit extrakorporaler Zirkulation (3, 4, 7). Die normotherme Ischämietoleranz des Gehirns ist äußerst kurz. Eine wesentliche Bereicherung der Operationsmethodik war 1964 die Einführung des mit extrakorporaler Zirkulation induzierten Kreislaufstillstandes in tiefer Hypothermie durch Borst (1). Diese Methode hat sich inzwischen in zahlreichen Zentren Nordamerikas und Europas als Standard durchgesetzt (5). Die folgenden Ausführungen beschreiben unsere Erfahrungen aus den letzten 10 Jahren bei 60 Eingriffen mit dieser Methode.
