Zusammenfassung

Die zügige Entwicklung der Welthandelsflotte setzte sich auch in den Jahren 1953/54 fort und führte gegen Ende 1954 zur Überschreitung der 100 Mill.-BRT-Marke. Am 6. Januar 1954 belief sich der Tonnagebestand der Welthandelsflotte in Einheiten von 100 BRT und darüber alles in allem auf 107 720 677 registrierte Tons brutto (BRT). Davon waren 65 664 068 BRT Tonnage für Trockenladung in Einheiten von 300 BRT und darüber mit 39 787 012 long tons ¹) Tragfähigkeit brutto und 123 719 059 cbm mittlerer räumlicher Ladekapazität sowie — unter Einschluß einiger Wein- und anderer Spezialtanker — 25 860 042 BRT Tankertonnage in Einheiten von 300 BRT und darüber mit 39 260 676 t Brutto-Tragfähigkeit und 51 502 323 cbm (l 818 906 000 cbf) Kapazität für die Übernahme flüssiger und gasförmiger Ladungen in Bulk. Die Tankertonnage in Einheiten von unter 300 BRT umfaßte am Stichtag 45 521 BRT und die Tonnage selber Einheitsgrößen für Trockenladung 677 196 BRT. Zur Welthandelsflotte aller Schiffsgrößen zählte weiterhin eine nun allerdings in keiner Weise laderaummäßig kombinierte Fahrgasttonnage mit 734 936 BRT, die zum weitaus größten Teil in Küstenfahrttonnage besteht.

Abstract

The steady development of the World’s Merchant Fleet continued also in 1953/54 and led by the end of 1954 to a crossing of the 100 mill, tons gross mark. On January 6, 1954 the tonnage of the World’s Merchant Fleet, in units of 100 register tons gross and over, totalled 107 720 677 registered tons gross. 65 664 068 tons gross thereof stood for dry cargo tonnage in units of 300 tons gross and over with 39 787 012 long tons ¹) deadweight all told and 4 546 777 000 cu.ft. mean cubic capacity. Including some wine and other special-type tankers, the World’s Tanker Tonnage amounted to 25 86O 042 registered tons gross in units of 300 tons gross and over, with 39 260 676 long tons deadweight all told and 1 818 906 000 cu.ft, cubic capacity for the transport of liquid bulk cargo. The tanker tonnage of less than 300 tons gross totalled on the key-day 45 521 registered tons gross and the dry cargo tonnage of said units 677 196 registered tons gross. Part of the World Merchant Fleet of all units was constituted by a passenger tonnage not combined in any respect with the carrying of cargo. Said tonnage consisted to a large extent in coasting vessels and measured 734 936 tons gross.
